Swiss start-up La Nova plans business routes out of Geneva

La Nova (Geneva), a Swiss start-up virtual carrier, aims to launch operations out of Geneva in May 2018, targeting business passengers, ch-aviation can exclusively reveal.

The company was incorporated as FlyLaNova SA on November 21, 2017. It plans to launch services under a third-party air operator's certificate (AOC) but plans to obtain own AOC within five years.

The company intends to launch scheduled flights with executive level service, initially onboard an ATR 72 aircraft. It is currently negotiating the acquisition of the turboprop with lessors and hopes to secure the equipment in the coming weeks. It is also eyeing a second aircraft of the type later in 2018, CEO David Roman Voegeli told ch-aviation.

In 2019, La Nova eyes adding further ATR 72s, as well as two PC-12s.

The firm intends to offer limousine services to and back from the airport and plans to use the executive general aviation terminals in Geneva and Zurich to cut down the time spent by its passengers in transit. Zurich will be initially served through W sectors, but La Nova mulls establishing a secondary base at the airport.

La Nova's initial destinations may include Milan and Strasbourg. The company also intends to offer scheduled flights to leisure destinations such as Florence Peretola and Montpellier, as well as weekend services to Brittany and PÚrigord in France, and to Austria. Its PC-12s can be deployed on scheduled services to the likes of St. Moritz, Guernsey, Cologne/Bonn, Courchevel, and St. Tropez, according to the information on La Nova's website.

"We expect to cover 20 destinations and 30 routes out of two main bases after 12 months. Our development strategy includes four route planning scenarios, depending on various opportunities and constraints. Europe, and especially Switzerland, is pretty well covered by ad-hoc charter operators, therefore we won't focus on this specific business. Our full fleet may however be used for ad-hoc operations upon availability," Voegeli said.
